I like to shop. I may not get to shop as much as I would like to but then again who does? I have also moved with the times and have made many purchases via the internet, some of which are from places like Amazon.com. In doing so one of the first things I do is check the reviews. That is what they are there for, to help people decide which item to buy right?
I will say unequivocally that a review has made up my mind time and time again whether or not to make the purchase I was contemplating. A good review can sway my decision to buy, but a bad review can send me looking for the next best thing. A middle of the road review tends to send me to the next reviewer to get their take on the matter.
So here is the thing, while I count on the reviews to help me with my purchase, I have never been in the habit of posting one of my own unless of course there was a problem with my order and then I leave my own, not so positive, review. My view was always one of they have plenty of reviews, what difference will one more make.
Since the release of my book I have found out just how important reviews are. Not only are reviews good to help the consumer make an informed decision but they also help the person or business who is selling the product. Most on-line sellers have what is called a ranking system. While a product may have five stars on its own, if it does not have very many reviews it is not ranked very high. The higher a product is ranked the more it is likely to be recommended by the host site so even though my book currently has reviews, and each review thus far has given it five stars, it is unlikely that the host site will refer it to other readers yet. That is why it is very important for everyone to leave a review for not only my book but for each purchase they make on-line. I know from this point on I will because, as I am quickly finding out, one can NEVER have too many reviews!
